A matter of scale.

As we continue to assess the storage damage sustained by the vessel, we wanted to step back from the repair process and share the core specifications of this scale build. Grounding the project in its physical dimensions offers a clearer picture of the sheer magnitude and presence this model will command once restored.

Currently, the ship measures an impressive 2,135 mm in length, stretching from the tip of the bowsprit to the overhang of the stern. From the baseline of the keel to the trucks (top) of the highest masts, the hull stands at a height of 955 mm, while the beam measures 280 mm across its widest point.

Handling a hull of this scale presents a unique set of modelling challenges. A structure over two meters in length demands exceptional structural integrity to prevent sagging, dynamic alignment checks across the entire length of the keel, and meticulous proportions to ensure every deck detail remains visually balanced. At this dimension, even minor flaws in symmetry or alignment are magnified. While minor dimensional variances may naturally occur as missing components are reconstructed and the final rigging is installed, the primary envelope will remain as faithful as possible to these core measurements.

Visualising these parameters highlights the true ambition of the original craftsmanship behind the build. Broadening the scope of the project beyond simple repairs, these measurements serve as a vital blueprint for our restoration efforts—guiding every stage of alignment, mast stepping, and detail work as we prepare to move from structural assessment into full rebuild.
